Dermatologist Tips

I am still reading The French Beauty Solution. It is such a great reference book. I have really enjoyed learning about my skin and about sunblock.

I really didn’t know how important sunblock was until recently. Now, that I am in my 30’s my overall health has been at the top of my list. I am in Chapter 4 of the book. In this section Mathilde is discussing dermatologist visits. Are they needed?

Well, according to Dr. Waldorf, you should see a dermatologist for any of the following:

* For a baseline, healthy checkup at any age. Your doctor will photograph your entire body and use this in the future for comparison to see if any moles or spots are growing or changing. Given how prevalent skin cancer is, you can’t be too safe. Some women go to medi-spas to have moles removed, but this can be risky as the people working there are often not medically trained and can’t tell the difference between skin cancer and benign mole. The same risks go for at-home devices. When it comes to your skin, it’s always good to trust a professional.

* If you have any moles, spots, or splotches that don’t heal, change shape or color, or appear suddenly and don’t go away no matter what you try. A normal pimple doesn’t last for months, and scrubbing at it won’t make it go away and can make it much worse.

* If you suddenly develop any skin condition such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, painful irritation, or rashes.

* If the texture of your skin changes dramatically. This can be due to fluctuating hormone levels.

* If you start losing a lot of hair on your head and growing it on your face. This, too, might be caused by hormonal changes.

* If you just want advice about more intensive skin care treatments, especially to treat sun damage.

This book has been so helpful to me. I hope you can pick up a copy of your own and start educating yourself on the importance of skincare. I am looking forward to Chapter 5. I will be reading about skincare ingredients, natural oils, and perfume.

My Facial Products

As I continue to read my book called “The French Beauty Solution” I am becoming more conscience about my skin.

I am in my early 30’s so skin care is becoming more important to me. While I was a teenager I was a big Noxema fan! I would clean my face twice a day with it so cleansing my skin was never a problem.

While in my 20’s I noticed that I had these dark spots on my face and they itched! I then realized it was dry skin. So I started moisturizing.

I now visit the Estee Lauder and Clinique booth at my local mall. I ask question about products and what would be good for my skin.

I am a huge fan of Philosophy’s Purity facial wash. I started using it about 2 years ago and it has done an amazing job on my face. For my day moisturizing I use Estee Lauder DayWear with SPF 15. It smells wonderful and I love the creamy texture of the cream. Plus, I am getting the protection I need from the sun.

For my night wear I use Estee Lauder’s Nightwear Detox Cream. Author Mathilde Thomas mentioned in her book that you should wear a night cream that is a detox. It will help with pulling out all the impurities in your skin.

Another product I have grown to love is Estee Lauder’s Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Serum. After I wash my face I put a little dab of this on my dark spots to help “lighten” them up. It is a slow process but it works.

The last two products that I use are Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair and Fresh Rose Floral Toner. The advanced night repair promotes a natural nighttime purification process and the toner imparts a healthy looking glow and soothes irritations along with given you a wonderful rose aroma.

I love my new skin care regime. I would encourage anyone to start their own. One thing I have learned about products is ask for samples! Most beauty consultants will give you samples. Happy Hunting!!!

Pomegranate Peony

I love walking around Anthropologie. They have some of the best home decor, scents, dishes, everything!  While walking around I went to each section smelling the different perfumes. I found this one. I love it! It’s called Pomegranate Peony. It’s a very small bottle. I wish they would make it bigger but I love it!

I smell just like a flower and I have had tons of compliments on it already!! I plan on buying two more bottles soon.

It smells so good!! I love the candle and lotion. I purchased the lotion and I have it on my desk at work. So fresh and feminine…

Beauty Day at Von Maur

A few weeks ago I was in the mall at my favorite store Von Maur and stopped by the Estee Lauder counter. I wanted to get some more of the lip gloss they had. The representative told me that if I spent $45 I would get the entire Estee Lauder gift bag set for free because it was beauty week at Von Maur!! Well sign me up!! You would not believe the free items I received from Estee Lauder. So fantastic…

For purchasing the two lip glosses I received this beautiful Estee Lauder
makeup pouch and all these items!!
I got two free lipsticks (my choice of color) and this eye shadow compact.

The Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean facial wash is so fantastic and smells wonderful!
I also received the Estee Lauder Daywar cream with SPF 15 & the Advanced Night Repair serum.

Laura Mercier

I am not a make~up kind of person but lately I have been really “open” to trying some things. I was in Sephora this past summer and I was asking questions about how to use bronzer and highlighter powders. I love to have a little shimmer on my face so I thought this would be the way to go.

I have to say I love my new Laura Mercier Matte Highlighter. I am wearing “Highlight -01”.  I put it in the creases of my eyes and below my eyebrow. I love the shimmer. It’s so pretty. I am still not wearing foundations yet but we will see.
