Blue and White Tea Cup Set

Goodness, I have been looking for a blue and white tea cup set for 2 years now! I don’t know what pattern I want but I do know that I want a mid-size cup. I have been on Ebay, Etsy, Google and I just can’t seem to find one that I like. When I do find one it costs a small fortune. So the quest continues. I did find one on Ebay but it’s two of them and I just want one so I don’t know. I may go ahead and buy the set so I can have one at home and one for the office.

I did however go to Pinterest to find inspiration of course….

These are the perfect size but no plate with it. Rats!!!!
This is lovely but how wide the mouth is I would be worried about my tea spilling….
Pretty pattern
Oh I wish I could find some thing like this. So elegant!
Honestly, this is the dream pattern. I wish the cup was a little bigger but this is what I am aiming for.
Perfect size!!!

Oh well, the quest continues. I hope you all enjoyed this post and wish me luck!!!!

Mornings at the Office

Getting up everyday and having a routine is very important to me. With routines I feel as though I have substance. I mentioned this on the blog before, see here and here if you wish to read them.

I always have flowers in the office. A great way to start your morning….
A small breakfast at my desk. Some pastry or bread and my small cup of peaches….

Big Lenox cloth napkins…

I have my own silverware of course….
I always have my water with fruit in it. See my blog post here about that.

After breakfast, I go to the kitchen and make my hot water, lemon and honey. I keep lemons in the office fridge.
I answer some emails then I go and wash my dishes. I bring in my own dish liquid. This is a small container with my Ivory dish liquid in it. Why not enjoy my pretty dish liquid here to.
After my routine, I began my day and enjoy all my office pretties around. I keep my lip balm and lip stick in this blue and white container that my mother in law gave to me. Very nice….
I have vintage pieces all around my office. I found this vase at a thrift store last year.
I have an aloe vera plant that I keep by the window. It got so big that a few months ago I had to bring it home and separate it! I ended up give away four plants from it! Needless to say that my co-workers were very happy.
I keep a lot of my vases at the top of my cabinets. I do enjoy my daily routine in my office. Wherever you work make it your own. If you have a space bring in something personal to make it beautiful. Whatever that beauty is to you. Enjoy your routines!

Beauty from the Cans

I saw an article recently about a floral designer by the name of Lewis Miller who is turning trash cans in New York City into bountiful beautiful floral arrangements. It is quite remarkable and frankly the best thing I have seen in a long time…..

A Lunch Break at the Symphony

Earlier this month I attended a symphony during my lunch break! It was a wonderful experience. A co-worker of mine sent me an email called the “Lunch Break Series” with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

I had never heard of it before but apparently they have it every year in July. So I looked at the list of music that they had available and I purchased a ticket for the Classically Romantic Series.

I couldn’t wait to go and see what it was going to be like. So on Friday I stopped at Subway and ordered my sandwich and drink and headed to the theatre.

Walking inside
I went inside to find my seat and wait for my friend.
I sat down and looked around. There were people of all ages and children.
It was nice to be able to send eat your sandwich and enjoy the music! The conductor’s name was Ruth Reinhart and the music that they played was Overture to Egmont, Op. 84 by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Three Dances from the Bartered Bride by Bedrich Semetana and Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy by Piotr llyich Tchaikovsky.

My friend and I both sat and listened to the music. It was very serene and lovely. It was so nice doing something different for a lunch break for a change. The session was about 45 minutes. It was just enough time to get back to the office.
I wanted to attend the following Friday’s session. It was called the “Music of John Williams”. The conductor was Richard Kaufman and it was mostly Star Wars music. I am not a Star Wars fan but there was one piece that was going to be played that I wanted to hear and it was the music from the movie “Sabrina”. I love both versions but the 1995 version is my favorite.
I can’t wait until next year. I am hoping to attend more concerts like this in the future.

My Daughter’s Violin Lessons

For a few years now our daughter has been wanting to learn to play the violin. So we finally listened to her and found her a private teacher.

She has only been going for a couple of months but I tell you I have enjoyed it just as much as her. I really enjoy her teacher and really love hearing my daughter play this beautiful instrument.

Here is her teacher’s home. It is very special to me. It remind me of a grand Victorian home. The drive to her home is lovely too. We pass a lot of farms and green, green fields! It is always a nice drive in the evenings.

She has this great wrap around porch. I mean it is huge! She has flowers all around her home and lots of birds…..
Now in her music room there are lots of rugs and each one is different. I love the original hardwood flowers and don’t mind all the wallpaper.
Here is another view of the music room. She has every instrument in this room that you could possible own! There are two big harps sitting here. She has three pianos in this room, guitars, flutes, clarinets, etc. I usually sit on the flower sofa and listen to Lauren practice.
For me this is another aspect of enjoying beauty in my life. Listening to my daughter play the violin, sitting in a Victorian home, learning about instruments, looking at all of the flowers in her garden and watching my daughter smile.
Enjoy the small outlets of beauty in your life whatever they maybe…..

Sunday Wine Tasting…

After our big delicious dinner at the Kopper Kettle, my husband wanted to stop at this winery called Buck Creek Winery. It looked very simple so I did not know what to expect.

When we walked in and they had all these wines with the medals around them.
I was impressed….

We then went to the counter and it was five tastings for $5! Great deal!

This was the list and you can see the five I tasted.

My husband and I ended up with two bottles. We loved the Rocio. It was a carbonated wine. Very good and we loved the Road House White. It was very tasty. Most of the wines I tried there were very good.

After you make your selection, you can take your goodies home or you can go outside and relax and sip your wine with your loved one.

The scenery was quite nice and it was a beautiful day. We will be going back again. We could not stay we had the kids with us and wanted to enjoy it alone.

A Sunday Lunch…

My family and I try to visit new places when dining. It is always hard to get out of a rut. We can be very routine with restaurants because we get to know the staff and usually order the same dishes.

My friend Kim suggested this place. We were a little apprehensive but in the end it turned out very well…..

This restaurant is called the Kopper Kettle Inn. The waitress gave us a brief history of the place. She said that it was a tavern, then a bed and breakfast, then they turned it into a restaurant. It has been a restaurant for over 95 years!
This place was also a part of the Underground Railroad. Very interesting….
I loved all the vintage rugs and antique furniture.

The light fixtures and murals were beautiful.
After oooing and aweing at everything we sat down to order.
We sat down to vintage plates! Wonderful!

We had homemade chicken noodle soup, salad and dinner rolls.
Of course the main dish was the fried chicken which was delish!!

There were lots of sides and everything was family style which forced you to pass dishes
around and talk. No cell phones please! (I tried to hurry and take quick photos)
After the wonderful dinner we went and toured the upstairs that was full of antique furniture.

Then outside to the gardens….

It was quite lovely and it was nice to dine somewhere different. It was about a 25 minute drive for us but we enjoyed seeing all the farms, land and yards and yards of peonies! It was quite enjoyable.
