French Style

I am always looking for ways to bring beauty into my home on a budget. A lot of times it takes great imagination to see past things. My friends say that I have that gift but I think that I am still learning. While reading French Style, I came across these great tips on how to continue my education on creating beauty.

~ Keep it simple if you really want to dazzle. Understatement can truly speak volumes.

~ Look for older items on the street or at markets. You can transform a throwaway into a masterpiece.

~ Choose materials that are easy to use and easy to update.

~ Look at the light in your house and play with color to achieve dramatic results. The use of mirrors can add both light and depth to a room.

~ Utilize fabrics, patterns, and textures that match the palette of your home.

~ With collections and relics remember less is more. Organize with a theme in mind to make a statement.

~  Bring natural elements into your home by employing fresh flowers, large windows, and open doors.

    Hi Mrs. Shockley,

I can't recall reading this post in 2015, perhaps I did. Anyway, I am still leaning too how to add beauty to my home. The most impactful lesson I learned from a friend that was an interior designer is to purchase curtains that are 96in. They should either touch the floor or slightly puddle. She installed curtains in our master bedroom and I thought, ",Oh my what is she doing placing our rods so close to the ceiling?". Well, boy was she right. Long curtains make the room appear bigger and the ceilings higher. I haven't looked back at 84in. I feel like I'm walking into a Chateau in our rooms with curtains. Now, it is taking me a while to get curtains for all the rooms, but I did just find the most feminine, elegant curtain on Amazon of all places. Oh my gosh they are stunning. Anyhow, this was a very nice blog to stumble across-certainly encourages the reader to keep learning about beauty at home. And I must agree with your friends, you have a gift of bringing beauty in your home. Hope you'll share some of your holiday table settings this year! I've enjoyed them in years past.

    Take care,

    Mya
