Small Quarantine Projects
Hello Everyone,
Since we all have been home and are taking things slow, I have been trying to do little projects around the house. Keeping a list and keeping busy has made my days feel much more productive and enjoyable.
This past weekend we did a little bit of gardening. I have lots of planters and have decided to buy different kinds of flowers and plant them myself in the planters. Doing this gives me a chance to be more creative.
I do love the way this looks so far…
Some of you may have seen this on my Instagram this weekend. I cleaned my chandeliers. Very scary (because I don’t like heights) but very rewarding once I was finished.
Alfred (my iRoomba Robot) has been hard at work too. He is currently set for three days a week to clean. I am glad he is around. He is the only consistent helper that I can count on. 🙂
Some of you may have seen in another post that my husband got me a glass door for the front and he installed my office chandelier. This is the next major project that I want my husband to work on. I want to paint this t.v. cabinet. It is about 40 years old and was given to me from my mother in law. It is in our master bedroom.
You guys may remember that back in 2017 my husband painted my cupboard that was about 30 years old that was also given to me from my mother in law.
These pieces are solid and I want to keep them. I just wanted to update them a little. I was thinking about painting this one gray but with our walls being gray I just don’t think it would look good. So we may be going with black and brass hardware. I know I don’t want it white. I just don’t think that it would complement our room well.
I will keep you guys posted!
Thanks for reading and stay safe!

Great job. Thanks for sharing your projects.?
Thank you Aliyah for stopping by! I hope you are well!
Hello Mrs. Shockley,
for the colour combination, I sometimes use the colour wheel from one of my books about flower arranging. Please, be aware, that I did not always find useful, especially with darker colours.
I like to think that black colour may make a nice combination with grey, and the brass fittings, especially if other fittings in the room are of the same material, may add an elegant touch.
The Easter is approaching, there are many small vignettes of decorations throughout my place, and I do account every year a little challenge how to make them stand out on the dark brown furniture and against light green walls.
I would like to wish You and Your family Happy Easter and hope the terrible event of the pandemic will soon be behind all of us.
With very best regards and wishes
Tatjana
Hello Tatjana,
Thank you for commenting. I always enjoy chatting with readers. I am on the fence about painting it black too. I contemplated white but I just don't want my room turning into one of the white rooms that everyone keeps posting. I want my rooms to have some character. So we will see.
I bet your vignettes are lovely. I love vignettes. I think they show imagination and character if you have one. Happy Easter to you and your family as well. I continue to pray for health and restoration to the entire Earth. We need it!
Hello Mrs. Shockley,
I saw the display of roses on your table, and I thought how lovely it was.
It was very kind of you to reply to my comment. The pieces of Easter decorations are combinations of various things I collected over the years, mostly from the secondhand shops. Somehow, no matter the question of the family budget, I was regarding the trip to the thrift store as an expedition looking for another little treasure.
With true regards
Tatjana
Oh my goodness Tajana. I am so with you in regards to thrift store shopping. I love thrift store shopping and can't wait to visit them again.
I do understand the feeling. These days, I do not write down on the paper my shopping list, but I do think, make little plans how I would like to go and visit my favourite store.
Again, with the very best wishes to You and Your family
Tatjana
