Wear the Red Velvet Shoes

Good Morning,

Thanksgiving is this week! I can’t believe it. This year really zoomed right by us. I am looking forward to taking a few days this week. I am only going into the office today and tomorrow and then I am taking the rest of the week off. I can’t wait! I do plan on taking my morning walks this week and getting the house ready for the holidays. We just finished cleaning the carpets upstairs and we used a lavender-scented carpet cleaner from Febreze. It was so nice! My trees are up and I purchased a lovely poinsettia from Costco a few days ago.

Today I wanted to chat very quickly about wearing things that you love. Yesterday I got to participate in a lovely Zoom call with Jennifer from the Daily Connoisseur and the Chic Society! I love it when we can do the Zoom calls. They are so much fun and such a thrill to chat with everyone! If you are a part of the Chic Society, I hope you can watch it below!

In yesterday’s Zoom call we talked about dealing with difficult people during the holidays and just wearing things that you love. I talked about how this past weekend I wore red velvet shoes to the grocery and loved every minute of it! Did I get stares? Of course, I did but who cares. I believe the stares did not come from a bad place but a place of “wow, I wish I could do that”. Here is the thing, you can! Life is so short and I think the last two years have shown us that. Life is so short…

So wear the red velvet shoes or glitter ones if you have them! I wore glitter shoes last week and the stares continued but again… who cares. I enjoy being a woman and everything that comes along with it. Speaking of velvet the boutique’s new arrival is available!

I decided to name this dress Charlotte. The Charlotte Velvet Midi is ready to accompany you to your parties or family get-together! Also, my Black Friday Sale has begun! Use code blackfriday21 and get 20% off of your entire purchase and that includes new arrivals! I hope you all can find something that you would love or purchase as a gift! Have a great Monday and wear the shoes!

Note:

To my international buyers if you make a purchase please use the cheapest shipping offer! The Post Office informed me that no matter what you select it will take at least 15-30 days to get to you. I am so sorry but we have no control over it. Thank you!

    Good morning,

I’m only working Monday and Tuesday as well! A part of me worries about getting behind schedule with our clients, but I have to remind myself it’s the holiday season and we should be enjoying ourselves. We have two Thanksgiving dinners to attend and I will be using a day to decorate for Christmas. I’m all for the red velvet shoes at the grocery store. I bet you looked so nice! I was just planning my outfit for Thanksgiving Day and thinking about how it’s a shame nobody dresses up for holidays quite like they used to. That would be so nice to see… Will you be sharing your trees or décor this year?

Yes, please enjoy yourself. The work will be there when you return. That’s what I tell myself. You have two parties to attend? How lovely and busy. I really try not to overeat on those days. I usually pick one house to eat an early dinner and then the second house to eat dessert.
I will be sharing some of my Christmas decor soon. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

    Hi Mrs. Shockley,
I watched the replay of the zoom and I loved what you said about the red velvet shoes and glitter shoes. I have got to be honest, I do dress up daily in dresses and skirts only, but I do struggle at times when I’m a bit more dressier. I get those same looks. And the why are you so fancy? I agree with Kelsie. Its a shame people don’t dress up for the holiday dinner. It never fails that I’m the only lady in my family that dresses in something other than leggings and jeans for the holiday, or any day for that matter. All of my family is going to my sister’s house for Thanksgiving and I already know the comments about me dressing up are coming. It’s disheartening. But I am encouraged by you and Jennifer! : )

You are not alone Mya. Trust me I have my days when I look down and wonder, oh is this too much? But I try to push through it and most of the time people compliment me.
I understand about family members’ comments. Some days it gets really old but I try not to let it get to me. They want you to stop shining. Don’t let them stop you!

Mrs Shockley your shoes sound beautiful. I have a pair of rose gold glitter shoes. Every time I wear them, without fail some little girl walks up to me and tells me how much she likes them. The adults say/have said oh how juvenile. I smile and say…I love them. That inner child is so sweet and she lives in us and I think we ought to wear her out more often. She is fun. Years ago comments like that would hurt and I would have retreated and never worn my shoes again. Not anymore. It’s a part of me. Just like my pearl headband and I like to wear ribbons and bows. It’s a part of my personality. I long to live in a society where people are free to be themselves and no one pokes at each other. We aren’t forced to be molded into something artificial just for the sake of others. We just live and thrive together. What a glorious time that would be.

Thank you! I wish people would leave others alone too! Honestly, people wear things that I would never wear but I let people have their freedom. If you choose to wear pjs to the grocery store then so be it. But don’t bother me when I walk by you in my glitter heels. People are funny. But I agree with you. Enjoy your inner child.
