Sleep Like A Chic Lady

Good Morning,

Goodness is it really September 13th already? Things are going by too fast! I printed out my Christmas list recently. I am about to start my Christmas shopping soon. I really don’t like waiting until the last minute with Christmas shopping. It can be really stressful to me if I do.

I finally got my autumn decor situated on my dining room table. Yesterday my brother, his girlfriend, and kids came by for a visit. It was a really nice time.

I put a few autumn-inspired treats out for us to enjoy! Now on to today’s post. I recently purchased another nightgown and I love this one as well. I did share my nightgown collection in 2019. I still have some of those pieces. The new nightgown that I purchased is called Eileen West and it is from Von Maur.  I just loved the giant floral peonies on it.

I adore the vintage feel and look of the gown. I am still reading Fiona’s book and she has a section called, “sleep like a chic lady”. She said, “When I burn the candle at both ends, it shows on my face and I feel it in my body. Sleep is the ultimate beauty elixir and it is free”.

Sleep is so important to all of us and I know for me wearing something beautiful to bed that I love makes my night routine all the better.

Enjoying my boudoir time is something that I take seriously. I get my hair ready for bed, wash and moisturize my face, brush my teeth, put my gown on, put lavender cream on my heels, place my cozy socks on my feet and hop into bed. Sometimes I make work on my planner, read a little, watch some vintage Martha Stewart shows and burn my lilac blossom candle from Yankee Candle.

Fellow blogger and Instagram friend Kristen from Ballgown with a Coffee Stain blog had a wonderful idea recently. She shared a beautiful photo of her in her new “nightgown”. Only it was not a nightgown but a lovely and comfy dress from H&M.

Now, how great is that? I would have never thought of that. This is the dress that she is wearing and it comes in different colors. I found some other ones here, here, and here. All of them are reasonably priced and quite lovely.

I think I may have to consider this idea. What do you think? I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it inspiring. Now check your closet to see if you have a comfy dress worthy of using as your nightgown. Have a great Monday!

    Good morning,

I just ordered a vintage-inspired slip that I will be using as a nightgown. I found it through the Inspired by Nikki channel. I love looking at 50’s and 60’s fashion, so I was naturally attracted to it. I’ve heard co-workers talking about sleeping in their husband’s old clothes and while it may work for them, I just wouldn’t feel good heading to bed in something like that. Feeling good about your appearance (at all times, even bedtime) is such a game-changer! That may not be the popular way of thinking these days, but vintage ladies (and chic ladies today) have the right idea. I believe Macy’s sells the Eileen West brand too. Your new nightgown is just beautiful. I love the colors and delicate detail.

How exciting! I hope you love your vintage slip. I had one in high school but after I had my daughter I knew that I was not getting back into it.
I agree with you about sleeping in your husband’s clothes. I just couldn’t do it and have never tried. Those are his clothes and I don’t want them. I hope you can share your slip one day. I would love to see it.

Lovely post! I love your nighty, it’s so pretty and floral:) Thanks for sharing the love and posting my pic! Bedtime allows us a nice ritual to wind down from the day doesn’t it? I love the process of getting ready for bed:)

Vermont Country Store, April Cornell and Victoria Trading Company have lovely nightgowns. They are my favorite. I used to always get L.L. Bean winter nightgowns. Nikki had shared a long time ago her vintage inspired slips. I bought several of them and a few of them I’ve opted to wear as night slips. They are perfect. As I get older I can’t stand to be too bundled up with night clothes and blankets unless it’s bitterly cold like growing up in New England. I loved the ones you shared from Von Maur. You’ve turned me on to that store, I wasn’t familiar with them. I’m liking them just as much as Nordstrom 😉

I am so glad that you like Von Maur. It is one of my favorite stores. I am going to have to check out the stores you mentioned. I love learning about new places to shop!

A few months back when Jennifer L Scott did her presentable pajamas vlog, I ordered a nightgown and one dressing gown from Montelle Intimates after her reviews. The fabrics are high quality and the lace details just make them all the more pretty. I agree that we should be presentable for sleep too. It enhances the nighttime routine and actually gives me something to look forward to after a long day. I am working on slowly building a nice collection of sleepwear. I really like your nightgown. There is a long sleeve of hers that I’m now eyeing on Macys.com that’s great for Fall.

Oh, you ordered one of the Montelle nightgowns? How fancy! I hope you get another gown for the fall. I love a cozy beautiful gown for autumn.
