My Framing Project

While we were in Charleston I found this gorgeous drawing of magnolias. Now magnolias are another favorite flower of mine. I think that they are so attractive and fragrant so finding a huge poster of them was wonderful.

I found it at the gift shop at the Magnolia Plantation. It was such a beautiful picture and a wonderful price! We only paid $10 for it! I knew that I had to have it framed and I knew that I had some wonderful frames at home.

What it looked like before framing my new artwork.

Assessing the poster and picking out the matting.
It took them about a week to get the project finished. They called this past Sunday afternoon while I was running errands. I was looking forward to seeing it…..
Bringing it home….
Hello Beautiful!!!! It is gorgeous! Better than expected and I love the contrast between the matting and the photo. My husband wanted the matting to match the photo but I thought having two different colors would give it a more custom look.
I could not wait to hang it.
And just so you guys get an idea of how big it is.
I took this photo beside it. It is a large picture.
I am so please with how this project turned out. Michaels only charged us $50 for everything which I thought was an outstanding deal. I now have this beautiful work of art that I can saw I got it while in Charleston. I will now consider custom framing for every picture that I want at home.
Thanks for reading!

July Favorites ~ 2018

I can’t believe July is over and my kid is already back in school. I hate this balanced schedule. When they go back to school you go back to school and I don’t want to go to school yet. Anywho, I wanted to share a few of my favorite finds for this month.

Okay, so first on my list is this beauty. I learned about this beautiful wallet from one of my favorite Youtuber’s Nikki. She has a wonderful channel called Inspired by Nikki and LOVE her channel! I must admit I have been binge watching it for the last few days. This wallet is called the LC Lauren Conrad Brulee foldover wallet. You can watch Nikki’s video about it. It is absolutely beautiful and I love it! But make a decision quickly. It is on sale right now for $19.60!

It is the perfect blush color.
Next are these. They are called the Gilligan & O’Malley slippers and they are also the perfect pink blush color. I have been wearing them all weekend long. I had to get a new pair because my old ones had a big hole in it. I cannot have that so I purchased these.
Next is another Inspired by Nikki purchase. I saw this tote in her closet tour (see here) if you want to watch it. I thought that this was such a wonderful tote. It is from H & M. I only found the black online. The grey is no longer available. I found my grey tote on Ebay. Happy hunting if you want the grey version.
Moving along…. next is this wonderful jumbo blue and white Spode teacup and saucer from Wayfair. Or should I say plate! It is huge! I did not realize that this teacup was 20 oz! I probably would not have ordered it if I had known but now that I have had it for a week I can no longer live without it.

So you get an idea of how big it is.

Of course I have my hot water, lemon and honey but I don’t fill it to the top.
That would be a bit much.
Next is my new blue and white ginger vase from Homegoods for only $30! Sorry I could not find it online so you will have to visit your local Homegoods store. Happy Hunting!!!
I also found this gorgeous peony arrangement while I was there for $30. Beautiful!
Found these big plush pillows in the clearance section at Homegoods.
I only paid $12 each which is a steal!
And last but certainly not least I found this vintage inspired pillow at Target. It is called a floor pillow from Opalhouse. I just loved the color and it reminded me of a pillow that my grandmother had years ago
Well I hope that you found something that you loved and that you enjoyed this post. I also hope that you check out Nikki’s Youtube channel. It is lovely. Enjoy all the finds!!

A Simple Tuna Casserole

Before leaving for our trip to Charleston, I ended up trying this tuna casserole recipe that I found on Pinterest and wanted to share it.

The ingredients were pretty simple and easy. I just picked up a can of sweet peas, 3 cans of tuna, 1 yellow onion, a bag of shredded cheese, salt, pepper, 1 can of Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup and some dumpling egg noodles. Everything cost no more than $20 and we had lots of leftovers.

I cooked my noodles first….
Then just combined everything else in the pan and put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.

It came out cheesy and tender. It was lovely. I ate it with some warm french bread and voila a wonderful dinner in minutes. I love Pinterest. I wish this existed in my twenties! It would have helped out some much.
I hope you try it!
Enjoy!

An Elegant Boutique in Charleston

After roaming around downtown Charleston on our first day my husband wanted to get in the truck and drive around a bit more and I am glad that we did. We ended up finding this wonderful little boutique not far from all of the beautiful historic Charleston homes.

The Boutique Charleston provides home furnishings, gifts for showers, anniversaries and birthdays. They also provide items for your bedrooms, bathrooms, and I also saw beautiful lingerie.

I wanted to stay longer and look around but we were headed to the Magnolia Plantation and didn’t want to be late.

There were beautiful faux flower arrangements everywhere.
Beautiful linens

Sferra cocktails napkins and linens.
The store was just beautiful!

And of course I had to pick up something.
And of course, I had them gift wrap it for myself.
I wanted to have a wonderful surprise when I returned home.

I could not pass up those beautiful Sferra linen napkins.

They are stunning and I am going to use them at home and work. I really loved this store and I guess it is a good thing that my husband was there because I would have seriously did some damage.

Exploring Charleston

We have returned home and I am sad. I have not stopped thinking about Charleston since we left. It has only been a few days and I MISS it desperately. I am serious. I really loved the homes, the gardens, the details in all the architecture, but mainly the historic homes.

I am so glad that my husband finally agreed to visit Charleston. It was so worth it to me.

Most of you may have already seen a lot of these photos on my Instagram account. At first I thought maybe I should not write any posts about the trip since some of it was documented on Instagram but I thought that there maybe some people who don’t have social media accounts and just read blogs.

This was our first day in Charleston. The area is called Colonial Lake. It was a suggestion from Julia and what a great suggestion. We walked around the entire area and looked at all the homes for free!!!

There were beautiful flowering trees everywhere! I could not believe how much was still in bloom. Especially since it was so horribly HOT!!! I have to admit that the heat was merciless to us but I still enjoyed it.

I don’t know about you but I could not get enough of the pink houses. They were my favorite!

I also wanted to be careful taking pictures of people’s homes. I was so afraid that one of them would come out and scream their head off.

This was my absolute favorite photo! I loved this door and was going to walk by it but thought there is no way I am not going to take a picture of this!

These are the homes in the South of Broad area. There were lots of people walking around doing the same thing we were doing. Take pictures and savoring in all the beauty around them.

Huge magnolia trees everywhere….

Vines growing on everyone’s homes and garage areas.

Once my family and I started walking around and looking at all of the homes the more they got into it. They began to read some of the information that was available on the outside of the homes. It became a wonderful day. In fact one of the neighbors did spot us taking a picture of her home and was very flattered. I was relieved. I did not want to offend her. She ended up telling us the process of how she purchased her home and gave us a free parking pass for the area! Fantastic right?
Well I hope that you enjoyed this post and I will continue with my Charleston adventure for the next few weeks to come.

To Charleston We Go!!!

Well, next week I will be on vacation. This year we are headed to Charleston, South Carolina. I have been wanting to visit this place for some time now but I am a little nervous about the weather.

I heard about a hurricane being nearby so I am saying my prayers to the Lord and asking for nice weather while we are there. I want to be able to walk around and just enjoy our time there. I don’t want to rush. I would like at least one beach day but we will see.

I found Julia Engel’s Charleston guide to be superb! Most of the places that she listed on her guide we are going to try to visit. I found a hotel nearby. It is only about 15 minutes from all of these places.

I would like to walk around the South of Broad. Julia said that there are a lot of historic residential homes and gardens. I am hoping to see one of those pretty pink houses with flowering trees around it.

I would like to walk around Hampton Park.

I would like to see the houses on Rainbow Row.

Next on my list is to take a tour at Boone Hall Plantation. Apparently, it is still a working plantation that does tours, sells their strawberries and tomatoes, and has a butterfly museum. Sounds like a wonderful day to me.

The Magnolia Plantation is another place that I would love to visit. I checked their website and during the month of July they are having $5 tour days! That sounds great! I would love to take the house tour, the nature boat tour, and the nature train tour.

They said that during the spring is the best time to come. You can see the azaleas in bloom. Oh, I wish they were still blooming.

Now of course my trip could not be complete without some shopping. Julia mentioned a store called Lily Charleston. I checked their website and it looks lovely. I am hoping to get a bottle of Antica Farmacista. Their bottles are so pretty and the names of the scents always capture me.

There are a few museums I would like to visit, some art galleries and this cute little stationery store called Mac & Murphy.

She also mentioned Palmetto Bluff, Savannah (I would love to take another visit there), and Sullivan’s Island. I checked their website and that looked like a beautiful beach to visit. Then she mentioned all of the restaurants.

Doesn’t that look delish! Oh I am looking forward to this trip. I am just hoping for good weather. Please Lord! I will let you guys know how it goes. See you in another week!

Elegant Dresses at H & M

I am such a dress fanatic! I love a great dress. Here lately I have been able to find some really great ones. I know that the dresses that I like are really formal but I will wear a cardigan over an elegant dress in a heartbeat! It does not bother me and for the most part I always get a compliment on the dress I am wearing. I just think that sometimes you just have to be brave!

So here I am being brave! I found these lovely dress on the H & M website. I hope that I have inspired some of you to buy an elegant dress and put a cardigan over it. It always looks chic!

This is the long v-neck dress in light heather. Hurry it is on sale now!
I absolutely adore this!!! Oh my gosh! I was so upset when I saw that my size was sold out. I was going to stalk this until it went on sale but never mind. This is called the long mesh dress in light blue. They also have it in pink.

Next is the long chiffon dress in pink. It comes in two more colors. They have it in an dark blue and mint green.

And last but certainly not least is the long off-the-shoulder dress in light turquoise. The price on this dress is not to be ignored! It is only $24.99! It is lovely for date night or a work day with a cardigan.

Lovely aren’t they? Well I hope that you enjoyed this post and let me know if you are a person who would wear a cardigan with a chiffon dress. I would love to know if there are more people out there like me.
Enjoy!!!!
