Enjoying the Peony Season

It is finally here!!! Peony Season!!! I couldn’t wait to get a bouquet this year. I have shared my bouquets on the blog in the past, see here and here.

I have it calendared each year to call the florist and see if the peonies have arrived. And they have….

I stopped by bright and early to see if I could get a few stems for my office.
And I did! I just gazed at them the whole time I was walking to my office.
They gave such a wonderful scent and added such beauty! Ahhh, I just adore them!
They had to come home with me to enjoy over the Memorial Day weekend! Well this is my first bouquet for the year. I hope that I am able to get more and soon!
Enjoy beauty wherever you can.

I Love Spanxs!

I remember when I first heard this word, “spanxs”. I thought what in the world are those? So I googled them and looked at a few and by the looks of them I did not like them.

I purchased an imitation pair and that was the worst experience I ever had! They rolled up my stomach and up my chest. They were dreadful!

But then a few weeks ago I decided to go and look at an actual pair of spanxs and honestly I am glad I did.

My spanx at home
I LOVE my spanxs! They work! They pull in what needs to be pulled in and the tuck in what needs to be tucked in. I went ahead and invested in an nude pair and a black pair and honestly I have no regrets!
I have the OnCore High-Waisted Shaper Short and for someone who wears dresses all the time having on a pair of shorts has been a life saver. I wish I would have purchased these before.
These are the pairs that I purchased. I wash them on the delicate cycle then I let them air dry. It has been great having them.
If you had a bad experience like I did maybe you should give them another chance or go up a size. I did and they fit! I really do enjoy them and I do feel more put together with a pair on.
Enjoy!

A little Shopping at DSW

After watching the Royal Wedding I ran some errands and stopped by DSW. I just wanted to take a quick run through to see if they had any new beauties to pick up. Here were a few that I looked at.

I saw these instantly and was going to purchase them until I realized that I have a pair that is almost identical. These are called the Violet and Red Lively Sandal.

I then looked up and saw these. They are called the Jessica Simpson Malaylee Sandal. I tried them on and they are quite comfortable.

Next was the Impo Elina Pump. I would have tried these on but they did not have my size. I may order them online.

I loved these too until again I realized that I had a pair almost identical at home in gray! I am such a creature of habit. These are called the Franco Sarto Dayanara Pump if you are interested.

Lastly, I saw these. I have been looking for a shoe like this for quite some time now. These are the Franco Sarto Imogen Pump . It is so similar to the Chanel pump. I had to buy it!
My pair
I ended up getting them for only $45! They had a small ink stain on them and I had a $10 off coupon! Yeah me!  I know that these will look great with my wardrobe.
It is uncanny how much they look like the Chanel’s right? Such a great deal and I am so pleased. I hope that you enjoy this post and may have found a great pair for yourself!

Current Purchases from Poshmark

I mentioned a few weeks ago about how I have been selling items on Poshmark. It has been going great and I still love doing it. Because of my recent sales I have been able to purchase some great finds! I just wanted to share a few of the items that I was able to buy for great prices!!!

These are some great nude Jessica Simpson wedges that I purchased for $18!!!

These were so cute! These Massini nude bow pumps I got for a steal! Only $10!

Okay I have been wanting a pair of these J Crew layered pearls for years and I was able to get them for $15!!

An authentic Chanel sunglass case…. I paid $25! Do I have a pair of Chanel sunglasses… no, but my Coach sunglasses fit and look great in this case!!

This was a wonderful C Wonder Leopard tote that I purchased for $30! I was stalking this for awhile.
My “likes” list is pretty long but I have been trying to buy each item bit by bit and my sales are helping me to accomplish that. If you are not familiar with Poshmark take an opportunity to. You can negotiate with the sellers and you just might walk away with a great item for less!

The Royal Wedding

I must admit I was not going to watch the wedding. I don’t know why but I wasn’t. But then I saw all of the beautiful photos on Instagram. It was absolutely breathtaking.

I LOVED it! It was done so well. It really was. I just wanted to share some of my favorite photos.

This photo is what captured me. How elegant? The arch blanketed with roses and greenery. It was just like a fairy tale. Her dress was exquisite! Very tasteful, chic, beautiful….. you name it was!

This was a florist’s dream! Just classic!

The tiara was gorgeous! I think I saw on Town and Country that this was a brooch from Queen Mary. I am not sure but I thought that is what I heard. So sophisticated.
Oh my goodness! I would love to have a photo like this with my husband. Truly inspired!
I could not get enough of the archways around the church.
And I believe this was the cake. So simple, so chic and so graceful. I love it!

I wish more beautiful events like this were on t.v. But I guess we take beauty whenever we can. One thing I did notice about the guests is that there were no Kardashians! I didn’t see any of them arriving with any of the other guests. I was so happy! I am sorry if you are a fan but I am not! I was pleased. Thank goodness!!
Well I hope that you all enjoyed the royal wedding. I know I did and I hope that they have a long and prosperous marriage!

The Sassafras Tea Room

I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! I know I did. It started off with a pedicure and manicure. I do love how french tip manicures can make your toes look so good!

The next thing was a bouquet of flowers from my step son and a nice dinner with my family. On Mother’s Day I took my mother to this wonderful little tea room.

It is called the Sassafras Tea Room! It was quite lovely. We sat at a vintage table that also had antique chairs. My mother was not quite use to it but she was a good sport.
I didn’t take a lot of pictures. I didn’t want to be rude and ruin everyone else’s lunch and I wanted to enjoy the moment with my mother.
I did love the vintage glasses.
The food was wonderful and my mother and I did have a good time. I am hoping to return to have lunch with a really good friend. I will be sending her a message soon. I hope you enjoyed this post and have a great weekend!

Treating People Well ~ Power of Charm

Sorry for the delay. I was having computer problems on Monday but let’s continue….

A few weeks ago I read on a fellow bloggers website about a book called Treating People Well. I have been reading it for a few weeks now and I must say that it is an excellent book! You guys know that I love to share what I am currently reading and if there are any good pointers from the book then I will share it.

This book was written by Lea Berman and Jeremy Bernard. Both were social secretaries for the White House. Lea was the social secretary to the Bush Administration and Jeremy worked for the Obama Administration. It think that it is excellent that two people from different political backgrounds teamed up and shared their experience in working with dignitaries.

I wanted to share their section on the “Power of Charm”.

In the “Ease your Way in” section, Jeremy mentioned, “When you enter a crowded room, don’t walk up to people who appear to be engaged in an earnest conversation. Instead, look for a loose group of people who seem to be chatting casually. Make eye contact with one of them and extend your hand. (I’ve done this several times). Then say, “Hello, my name is…..”If it’s a more casual setting, like a barbecue, you can go with “Hi, I’m….” Then shake hands with others in the group, and enter the flow of the conversation. If you caught a little of what they were discussing when you walked up, that’s the best place to start: “Were you just talking about the last speaker? So powerful, didn’t you think? Or offer some tidbit of information about yourself, preferably with some humor, such as, “I’m Tom’s favorite brother. Okay, his only brother”.

One more tip that I wanted to share was the “Keep it Courteous“, steer away from topics that might make your dinner partner uncomfortable. If he mentions that his mother passed away recently, say you’re sorry for his loss and then change the subject. If someone says something politically charged that you disagree with, you can simply say, “I don’t agree” or “That’s not how I see it.” Again, change the subject. If the other person persists, say “I don’t think you’re going to sway any minds today! Maybe we should talk about something else.”
I thought that these were some wonderful tips and were more but I didn’t want to spoil the book. The book is PACKED of ideas and helpful information on how to deal with people. I work in a political office so this book has me heading in the right direction. I hope you are able to pick up a copy of your own. Enjoy!!!!
