My Store Tours

I love shopping but then again what woman doesn’t! It’s that time of year where everyone is going to be out and about getting those Christmas lists complete. I have written about a few of my favorite stores on my blog. Below are some of my stores visits. Take a peek at what some of the stores have to offer.

Flowers by Carolyne Roehm

I love flowers which is not a shocker to anyone who has been reading my blog! But when I stumbled on former fashion designer Carolyne Roehm my love for flowers was taken to a different level.

Carolyne is a wonderful interior designer also! I love her home and the sense of carefree elegance that she has.  I can’t wait to get a copy of her newest book “Flowers”. Below are some photos and two videos. The first one is a video of Carolyne doing some flower arranging in her home and the second video is of her flower shopping with Susanna Salk.

I love both videos and watch them over and over. Enjoy!!

Vintage Rose ~ A Teacup Boutique

Now this is my kinda of store. For those of you who read my blog you can see that I am a big fan of china! I especially love teacups! I don’t know why but I do and Vintage Rose has a lot of them!

This little store is also located in Brown County, Indiana. It’s a sweet little boutique that sells hand-painted vintage pieces, vintage jewelry, hats and furniture. I saw about 20 teacups that I wanted! This year I noticed something new. They now sell bottles of room sprays. They smell so good! I purchased 2 of them and a pair of vintage earrings.

The prices are really reasonable. I only paid $10 for my vintage earrings and about $9 for the room sprays. The lady who runs it was so pleasant. Oh my gosh, she was a sweetheart! If you visit Brown County please make sure you stop by and see Vintage Rose. See my photos below. Enjoy!!!

Vintage dollies

They sell artwork

Some of the vintage jewelry
Here are the room sprays. This is the scent called Roses.
It smells just like fresh cut roses.

This is called Magnolia. It was lovely.

Blushing Tulips, oh this was one of my favorites.
But my husband didn’t care for it too much
This is what I purchased from the store.
A bottle of pomegranate and roses room spray & a pair of green vintage earrings.
Once we left Vintage Rose we went to my favorite sweet’s store.
I believe it is called “Caramel Corn”.

They sell the best flavored popcorn and caramel covered anything here!
Here they have caramel covered marshmallows and caramel coated bacon!

Here is my favorite treat to get here every year! The granny smith caramel apple!
Oh so good!
Thanks for reading!

Refreshing Your Bed

I love climbing into a nice cozy bed every night. But what really makes it nice is when your bed smells wonderful. Over the last several years, I have always sprayed my bed with some sort of linen spray. I especially love anything floral.

I am always excited when I come across home-keeping videos on YouTube. I loved these two videos from One Kings Lane about how to refresh your bed. I hope you get some ideas. Enjoy!

Personal Arcadia

I follow a Youtube channel called BellisVintage. A few weeks ago they posted a video called “the Personal Arcadia of Sir John Richardson”. I loved this video. It is a tour of his home. I have watched it several times already.  Also Heather Clawson of Habitually Chic wrote a blog entry about him, see here. You take a look at the video and see why, sheer elegance……

Creating Beauty ~Oscar de la Renta

The legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta died on October 20, 2014. I think we all loved Oscar like he was our very own personal designer. I for one loved his wonderful attitude toward elegance and pleasure. I followed his channel on YouTube (see here).

About a year ago Oscar posted a video of an interview that he had with interior designer Miles Redd.  I loved the comment that Oscar made, he said, “I don’t want to see one tulip in one vase. I like to see 10,000 tulips in one vase”. That sounds like something I would say. So watch the video and fall in love with Oscar all over again.

Multiples of Things ~TKW

I mentioned before on here that I loved the book by Ted Kennedy Watson called “Style and Simplicity”.  On page 102 he mentioned how he loves “Multiples of Things”.  He says the following:

THINK OF STRENGTH IN NUMBERS on this one. A few bowls hung up in a row is pretty, but quite a few bowls hung up in a row is even prettier. Multiples of one type of object are such a strong visual. Think of a fireplace mantel covered with candlesticks. When you use a good number of the same object, the eye looks at the collective whole as one, and you can create a really stunning display of items. Think also of a dining table filled with clear drinking glasses, each glass filled with a tulip. From the simple to the grand, mass a collection together of awesome visual impact.

I couldn’t agree more and he is right. When I see multiples of things I do see it as one. How clever! So when I have two or three vases filled with flowers together I no longer feel like it’s too much. I feel like this looks really grand…. Thank you Ted!

My blue and white vases at home.

Ted Kennedy Watson’s table. Gorgeous white dahlias!

Another one of Ted’s tables! Multiples….

My peony arrangements this past summer. Multiples….

A photo from Ted’s store. He even puts all of his items in multiples and it looks splendid!
