What I Learned About Pearls

I love pearls and I have said that over and over on the blog. I have learned quite a bit about this glorious jewelry statement piece. What I learned is that they are timeless, chic, and make any outfit look wonderful and they get better with age. I recently read this simple yet informative list from Matchbook Magazine about what you should know about pearls.

Freshwater pearls: come in all shapes and sizes and a wide variety of colors.

Saltwater Akoya Pearls: are round, pinkish in color, and known for their luster.


Tahitian Pearls: range in color from inky-black to bluish-silvery white. 



Golden South Sea Pearls:  are rare and lustrous with warm and golden tones. 



Now pearl necklace lengths are something else you should know. 


Collar: 12-13 inches

Choker: 14-16 inches

Princess: 17-19 inches

Matinee: 20-25 inches

Opera: 35-36 inches

Rope: 37 inches

My Current Wish List at Von Maur

I have talked about this store before but I am just such a huge fan of Von Maur that I have to share my “wish list” from them. I went in a couple of weekends ago to look around. I found a few great items that I want.

I always create a mental wish list in my head from this store and take photos. By the grace of God I have been able to complete every wish list there! It is fantastic! The customer service is wonderful and the products are good quality. Here are a few of my current favorites….

I love this ginger jar!!! It was only $50!

I ended up buying this one in black! It reminds me of the Prada Saffiano tote with the double zip.

Outlet Mall Shopping

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I took a small trip to our outlet mall here in Indianapolis. It is called Edinburgh Premium Outlets. We have some great stores here. Of course I have my few favorites. I love going to Ralph Lauren, Ninewest, Loft, Coach and Banana Republic. 

I try to live what I believe, be elegant everyday and outlet malls help me to accomplish that without ruining my budget. The first store that we stop at was Ralph Lauren. I purchased some shirts for my husband and I picked up these Polo Equestrian scarves. 






You can find the same scarves here but they are hard to locate. I could not locate my Ninewest heels. Sorry…. the other item that I purchased was this lovely Coach wallet. I found a close option here. The last item in this photo is the Loft lace tank top. 
The next item I purchased was this Coach pink umbrella. There are a lot to chose from see here but I only paid $25 for it which was a steal!! I purchased 2 bottles of perfume. One is called Lolita Lempicka and I have been wearing it for years! It is a very crisp floral fragrance. Everyone gives me compliments on it and the other is Banana Republic Wildbloom Vert. This is another floral fragrance with notes of violet leaf, pear, and gardenia.

Shoelery

Finding wonderful shoes is always a good thing but finding wonderful shoe accessories is quite another. I was looking around my favorite store Von Maur and spotted these cute shoe clip-ons! It is called Shoelery.

It’s jewelry for your shoes! I love how versatile they are and how they change the look of your shoe completely. I will be heading to the mall for more very soon!

Finding beautiful accessories is always fun! Charming Charlie is a wonderful place to find classic and trendy pieces for your wardrobe. I found this cross~body wallet with gold chain last week. They have it in 5 different colors.

I was torn between the red and the black so my daughter chose for me. She liked the red and now so do I! It looks good when I pull it out of my bag and use it. I love the color and the gold hardware.

Pearl Tassel Necklace

Pearls are so classic and chic. They look good on everyone. This is one accessory that I am just so loyal to. Every time someone talks to me about accessories or clothes I always mention pearls and now they are affordable!

Faux pearls are just as exquisite as the real ones. I have seen some great looking faux pearl necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and so on and so on. While at Charming Charlie I picked up this pearl tassel necklace.

I thought it was so simple yet classic. I immediately saw it on most of the shirts in my closet and I could see me wearing it on the weekends.
