Sleep Like A Chic Lady

Good Morning,

Goodness is it really September 13th already? Things are going by too fast! I printed out my Christmas list recently. I am about to start my Christmas shopping soon. I really don’t like waiting until the last minute with Christmas shopping. It can be really stressful to me if I do.

I finally got my autumn decor situated on my dining room table. Yesterday my brother, his girlfriend, and kids came by for a visit. It was a really nice time.

I put a few autumn-inspired treats out for us to enjoy! Now on to today’s post. I recently purchased another nightgown and I love this one as well. I did share my nightgown collection in 2019. I still have some of those pieces. The new nightgown that I purchased is called Eileen West and it is from Von Maur.  I just loved the giant floral peonies on it.

I adore the vintage feel and look of the gown. I am still reading Fiona’s book and she has a section called, “sleep like a chic lady”. She said, “When I burn the candle at both ends, it shows on my face and I feel it in my body. Sleep is the ultimate beauty elixir and it is free”.

Sleep is so important to all of us and I know for me wearing something beautiful to bed that I love makes my night routine all the better.

Enjoying my boudoir time is something that I take seriously. I get my hair ready for bed, wash and moisturize my face, brush my teeth, put my gown on, put lavender cream on my heels, place my cozy socks on my feet and hop into bed. Sometimes I make work on my planner, read a little, watch some vintage Martha Stewart shows and burn my lilac blossom candle from Yankee Candle.

Fellow blogger and Instagram friend Kristen from Ballgown with a Coffee Stain blog had a wonderful idea recently. She shared a beautiful photo of her in her new “nightgown”. Only it was not a nightgown but a lovely and comfy dress from H&M.

Now, how great is that? I would have never thought of that. This is the dress that she is wearing and it comes in different colors. I found some other ones here, here, and here. All of them are reasonably priced and quite lovely.

I think I may have to consider this idea. What do you think? I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it inspiring. Now check your closet to see if you have a comfy dress worthy of using as your nightgown. Have a great Monday!

Grandmillennial Earrings

And Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I still can’t believe it is September already. I am excited about an order I will be receiving at the end of the month. I don’t know about any of you but I follow quite a few “grandmillennial” influencers on Instagram. Some of them have recently posted “grandmillennial-inspired” cookies. Last year I wanted a dozen but my husband missed the cut-off order mark. I think Covid also had something to do with it. But not this year! This year I ordered them myself and I am so excited about receiving them. I ordered the ginger jar sugar cookies from the Geneva Baking Company.

I can’t wait to see them! Speaking of grandmillennial inspiration, I recently discovered a jewelry maker who has some beautiful pieces. I found Carmen on Instagram and fell in love with her cameo earrings. Now you guys know that I already have a pair from Nicola. I love those but they are a bit heavy. These are lighter and offer the same beautiful design as Nicola’s.

They came in a beautiful pink box.

These are the Martha Medium Cameo Earrings and they are stunning! I love the light blue color. They are so elegant!

I just love them! I honestly just love them! She has a bridal collection as well. I love her Mabel earrings and her Mina Medium Cameo Earrings. I seriously love these as well! I hope you all enjoyed this beautiful new find. I have been wearing them non-stop since I got them. They are truly a delight to wear.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that there has been a slight change to the Return Policy to the boutique. If you order an item and can’t fit it please email me. If I have the size then I will gladly send it to you once I receive your item back. I just want everyone to know that. I have already done this for a customer and wanted everyone to know that it is an option. Have a great Wednesday!

Autumn Review

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It is still horrible hot here, but I recently heard about some terrible storms around the country. I hope everyone is safe. This morning I decided to try something different. It has been years since I have walked. I normally work out on my elliptical but I have been craving some walking recently. I have a lot of neighbors that walk around the neighborhood so this morning I decided to get up and walk two miles. It went great and I hope to keep it up for the next several months.

I recently watched Jennifer L. Scott’s video about Fall Wardrobe Planning and thought, “well great minds think alike” because I was already planning on going through my wardrobe here shortly. Even as a glance at my closet, I already see several pieces that I will be donating to charity. I have so many items that I have not worn in over two years. It’s time…

The boutique’s new cardigan arrival

I am very much looking forward to the autumn this year. I love those crisp mornings. Goodness, I always feel so good going to the office on those days or running errands. I am excited about my grass turning green again and being able to take my dogs on evening walks. It has been way too hot the last few weeks.

As I glanced at my closet this year I realized that I am prepared for autumn. I have everything I need. I have TONS of dresses. I purchased so many dresses this year and last. I found so many that I loved and that would be great transitional pieces. The area that I am struggling with is skirts. I can not seem to find decent skirts.

I have searched high and low for skirts and can not seem to find any that I like. I checked Ann Taylor, J Crew, etc. I even checked Amazon and still had no luck. But I will continue to search. I like for my skirts to look a certain way and trying to find what I want feels like a needle in a haystack. Very hard…..

The other item that has been on my list is black heels. So I ordered a pair from Ann Taylor Loft and they are way too tight. I wanted to return them but they were clearance so I couldn’t at that point. I am still on the hunt. I don’t own a pair of black heels but I did find a pair of studded black kitten heels from Poshmark. Those just may have to do.

I will be working on my closet the weekend of Labor Day. We get that Monday off so having that extra day will give me time to go through everything. I will also be putting out my autumn decor that day. I will show you guys the process then. Let me know in the comments section below if you are preparing for autumn as well. Have a great Monday!

Also please send me an email if you would like to be added to the blog’s weekly emails. Every week, I send out an email with recent blog posts, new arrivals, boutique news, discount codes, recent internet finds, and favorite Youtube videos. Please email me at ahomeforelegance@gmail.com with your info. If you have a friend that you think would love my emails forward them to her!

What’s in My Bag?

Good Monday Morning,

I hope everyone had a good weekend. It was finally cool in Indy! Oh my goodness the weather was so much better. I was not sweating at all. It was so nice. On Saturday we went to HomeGoods to get the last few items for my step-son. He will be returning to campus this week. I hope he does well this year. He has a new roommate. Oh, fingers crossed they get along!

I am actually teleworking today for the first time since April. Boy, I have forgotten how much I miss it! But it will be back to the office tomorrow. I have been able to get a lot of projects done since we have not fully returned to the office yet.

In today’s post I wanted to do a What’s in My Bag post. The last time I wrote about this was in 2017. During that post, I was carrying my LV Neverfull. I still have it and love it. What’s incredible is the price increases! They are beginning to skyrocket and I don’t understand why.

I have been wanting the Louis Vuitton On the Go tote for the last 2 years. I went last year in April to look at it in person and it was $400 cheaper then!

I don’t know what’s going on. I was wanting to buy it used because all of my other LV’s are used but buying it used was horrible! It’s $1,000 more if you buy it used because everyone knows that they are sought after! It’s cheaper if you buy it from Louis Vuitton yourself! Anyway, enough complaining. I got my dream bag. It was an early birthday gift and the last one in the store.

It is beautiful and I do love it.

This is the inside. There is a zipper pocket, inserts for your phone, and tons of space. It does have two shoulder straps as well.

Not much has changed as far as items inside my bag. I have been carrying the same cosmetic bag, eyeglass case, and I did just get this new wallet from Coach. It has so much room and space for my cards. I love it! I do still carry my face masks in my Coach drawstring bag. I shared this last year in my Covid Essentials post.  I just ordered two new face masks from Etsy. I ordered this blue Shabby Chic face mask and this pink antique garden Shabby Chic mask. I can’t wait to see them!

I have had my tote for about a week and love it. It truly was my dream bag and I intend on having it forever. Have a great Monday! Also, check out the boutique. A couple of dresses are on sale and we should have some new arrivals coming soon!

Recent Outlet Mall Finds

Good Morning Everyone,

Happy Wednesday. I am a little excited because I am almost finished with a recent organizational project at work and I will be so happy when it is complete. I have been organizing our file room which desperately needed it. I went and got some faux plants and flowers to put in the room as well. I am looking forward to the finished product.

On with today’s post. This past weekend we decided to go down to our outlet mall here in my city. I think our outlet mall is okay. I mean we have some stores but to me, it’s just average so… well maybe I am being a bit harsh but it’s average. I did find some things down there that I wanted to share.

I had no intentions of buying anything but I did see this beautiful tote in the Coach store. This was the last one that they had in the store so I knew that I had to make a decision. I love the pinks and creams together and it is a true workhorse tote.

And of course, I had to look at wallets. I found this Coach travel wallet while I was there. I love all the space it has and the color.

After the Coach store, we went to the Ann Taylor store. I found this v-neck sweater tank. I actually wore it today and it is quite lovely! It looks great with a cardigan and skirt.

I also found this gorgeous scarf at Ann Taylor. It’s really beautiful in person and quite large. I was very pleased with the colors. The price made it very easy to purchase.

And the final purchase was these Nike Running shoes. I am not a sneaker person but I really like these and this is my second pair. I purchased a pair last year and use them to work out in. I will use these for the same purpose.

Oh I know that this was not purchased at the mall but I had to share my new floral scarf from Tory Burch. It is now sold out! It is the most gorgeous scarf I have ever seen!

Isn’t it stunning? Oh my goodness. I just want to leave it in my chair just so I can look at it! I hope you all enjoyed my outlet finds. I love outlet mall shopping. I really want to visit the Cincinnati outlet mall. It’s beautiful and has way more shops than ours. I may have to plan that soon! I have a great Wednesday!

My Tory Burch Visit

Good Morning,

I can’t believe March is over. Wow… and Easter is this weekend! I would love to know how some of you are planning to spend your holiday or Resurrection Sunday! Looking around my neighborhood I am still a little sad. Our trees and blooms are running a bit behind. Everything is still very bare. But I guess there is no need to rush things right?

I hope you all got to watch my Tory Burch Unboxing on YouTube. I had fun recording that video and have enjoyed carrying my new tote everywhere. Now I am going to share some photos from the store.

Walking into the store you see this beautiful room that’s set up just like one of her rooms in her home. I forgot to take pictures of the beginning part of the store. I like to be able to enjoy places without always having my phone out.

These are some of the beautiful bags in the store. I love the crossbodies but they are just a little too small for me.

Walking further into the store you come to the beautiful teal/green “Tory” couch. I love this thing and I would love to find a duplicate! Even the fringe at the bottom makes me smile. Do you see the blue and white lamps and the blue and white ginger jar? Grandmillienial style!!!

Loving the gold accents and accessories. I just think that gold could go with anything.

The customer service at our location was impeccable! They were incredibly nice and knowledgeable.

And of course, if you watched my video or follow me on Instagram you would have already seen this. I purchased the Ella tote in blue while it was on sale and the painted silk neckerchief which is now sold out online. I have gotten so many compliments and stares at my bag. It’s different and it’s chic. The total amount that I spent for both items while on sale was $378 after tax! I thought that was an incredible deal for the quality, customer service, and design.

I look forward to enjoying this tote all summer and my scarf. If you use the Poshmark app. and want a Tory Burch purse at a discounted price you may want to check that out. It has tons of wonderful bags for cheap and you can offer a smaller price to the seller. I hope you enjoyed this post and my video!

The AHFE Boutique Official Launch!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! The weather here was fantastic! We had lots of sunshine and the temperature was great for Indiana. We took our daughter bowling this weekend with her bestie. I actually bowled you guys! Yes, I did and in a dress! My dress was past my knees so I was still comfy doing this activity. I actually didn’t do too bad. My score was about 92 this first time and about 84 for the second time. I haven’t bowled in over 10 years. It was fun but I was sore! Then on Sunday, I ran a few errands. I went to Ulta to check out the new Philosophy jasmine scent and it was so good! Oh my gosh, I sprayed some on my wrist walked about the store, let it dry then smelled it. I then immediately walked up front to pay for it. So good….

So tomorrow is the big day! Tomorrow is the first day of my boutique. I can’t believe it! Honestly, and I think I may have shared this, I have been wanting to do this for some time now but really didn’t think that I had the courage to. At the end of last year, I had a conversation with myself. We all have those from time to time and I told my heart, “listen we need to at least try this”. If it fails then so be it but at least we can say that we pursued a dream”.

Seriously you guys I have notebooks from as early as 2002 filled with my business ideas. Now back then Facebook and Instagram didn’t even exist and forget about setting up a website. Now that technology has improved it had given all of us a small platform to try a dream.  So I am going to try this.

I really hope that everyone enjoys the clothes from the boutique. I do realize that I will not be able to make everyone happy but I will do my very best to ensure that you are pleased with your purchase! As of right now, I cannot do international shipping. The costs would be too much. I have not let that go. I am still working on getting info from my post office about it so I am hoping to offer it in the near future. All purchases will be sent by the USPS and will have a tracking number.

If you have any questions you may use my Contact page to send a note. I promise to respond as soon as I can. Again, thank you all in advance for your purchase! I am really looking forward to this journey. Yay!
