The London Ring ~ Princess Diana

Good Morning!

I have the day off today for the holiday. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have an extra day. This morning I went for a morning walk! I have not been able to do this since early November. I miss my morning walks. I have been getting on the elliptical instead. But there is something beautiful and exhilarating about walking outside in the mornings. I get to hear nature, talk with the Lord, breathe fresh air, and have peace. I am looking forward to being able to walk again soon.

Today I do have a jam-packed schedule. I have two appointments and I need to drop off some items for donation at the women’s center. I am also working on trying to get some new items for the boutique. I can’t believe that I am closing in on one year already. Seriously I can’t believe I lasted a year. I am so grateful to all of my customers. I do hope that everyone is loving their purchases.

Speaking of new purchases. I recently took a leap and purchased a piece that I was on the fence about. I have shared my purchases from Nicola Bathie before and I was hoping that this piece would not disappoint.

The second jewelry piece that I ordered was the London Blue Ring. I LOVED this ring when I first saw it. Now it’s obvious that this ring is inspired by Princess Diana’s ring well now Kate Middleton’s ring. But isn’t it the most elegant ring ever? It speaks royalty and class. It does come in green but I had to order the blue.

I did find some more affordable versions on the Etsy website. There is this one, this one, and this one. I hope these will get you started on your quest for one. This is a classic ring. One that could be worn for ages. Have a great Monday!

Breakfast with the Madame…

Good Morning Everyone!

Happy MLK Day! Dr. Martin Luther King was always a wonderful leader that I enjoyed studying in school. I hope that we continue to have wonderful leaders like him. Today I plan on taking a 2-mile walk around my neighborhood and finishing up some house chores. I also plan on vising my local Homegoods store to see what goodies they may have. It is always a hit or miss with that store.

This weekend I did some house cleaning, scheduled some more house chores that I need to get to. Like I really need to clean my chandeliers and wash my blue and white gingers jars that are in my kitchen on top of the cabinets. I am still in tax mode and hoping to get that finished in the next few weeks. Also, I don’t know if I mentioned this but this was going to be the month where I was going to go to my first concert! BUT… Diana Krall has postponed her tour for now and I am so devastated. I was so looking forward to it but we will wait and be hopeful that we will get some new dates here soon.

I did get a wonderful package this weekend….

I started following this company called MME.Mink on Instagram. And it’s pronounced, Madame Mink. I had to search some videos to figure out how you say it. I watched this interview on Instagram to get an understanding of what Jane the owner was like.

It was a wonderful interview and I knew that I was going to love her products. I originally wanted this tote here but I decided to go smaller. That tote is super large but I do still love it. I don’t know you guys I may order it later.

I ended up ordering the LadyJane in Moss and I could not love it more!

I love the fox and the gold details. The tag does have “Mrs. Shockley” on it! I grin every time I look at it.

“Having tea with the Madame”!

This is a super high-quality basket bag. I mean you can tell when you hold it. It is not some flimsy wicker bag. It is structurally sound and has weight to it. On the inside, there are two pockets for your cell, a side zipper pocket, and tons of space.

This bag is definitely going to be a classic for me and I am hoping to pass it down. Maybe a granddaughter will want it!

I did share this on my Youtube channel. You may watch it below.

Jewelry from the White House

Good Morning,

I got a few new shipments arriving soon (not for the boutique). I am a little nervous about one of the decor items. I will share it once it arrives. In today’s post, I quickly wanted to share some jewelry that I recently found on the White House’s website!

The first pair are these gorgeous starburst earrings inspired by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy!

This starburst collection was inspired by one of Jackie O’s brooches. She purchased a 19th-century brooch while she was in London and it was during her first few months as First Lady. Her three-stranded pearl necklace has always been an inspiring piece as well.

The website has lots of beautiful jewelry. You should definitely scroll through the website and look at all of the treasures that they have. Another blogger who shared the jewelry and home accessories from the White House was Jenny from Tallwood Country House. You should read her blog post as well. I would love to visit the White House someday or maybe work there! Who knows.

Have a great Wednesday!

The Beautiful Style of Jessica Fletcher

Good Morning Everyone,

I had a pretty good weekend. I watched a new action film called Infinite with Mark Wahlberg and it was not bad. We went and had dinner at Chic fil A on Friday and someone dumped a cup of ice in the parking lot near our car and I slipped and fell on it! I just laughed when I hit the ground. My purse somehow shifted behind me and I landed on it! It was perfect! I could not have planned it better myself. Once I recovered my family and I just laughed all the way home. I told Lauren, “well I guess I was due”. I had not slipped and fallen on ice in about 3 years. I was due”.

I am planning my year. I’ve got to get doctor’s appointments scheduled and I am trying to meet with a dietitian this year! That is one of my goals for 2022. I am also gearing up for my first tax year for A Home for Elegance. I can’t believe it! I am going to be a nervous wreck until this is done. Goodness…

I am also teleworking today, yay! I have not teleworked in months and I am so happy to be able to do this today. I know the rest of the week will be busy but I am going to enjoy this today. Alright now on to today’s post.

Have any of you ever watched Murder She Wrote? I started watching it a few years ago. It was on one of those nights that I could not sleep and needed something good to watch. One thing I noticed was her clothes. Did any of you ever pay attention to the outfits she wore during those episodes?  Here are a few to jog your memory…

She looks sensational right? I wish celebrities and T.V. stars still dressed this way but unfortunately being nude has become more popular.

I have to say I am a big fan of how she wears her scarves. I mean how chic is that? I read online that in a 1992 interview a costume designer by the name of Eilish Zebrasky was “careful” to fit Angela Lansbury in fashions that reflective her age. I would have to say that she did a wonderful job!

I spy a blue and white lamp…

I will surely be taking some tips from her fashion. In most of these photos, I would say that you can still wear these outfits today. I also love the mysteries. Murder She Wrote is just a classic television series that I am so glad to be able to still watch. It could be that I am getting older but I crave more shows like this. I always pray that the Lord can help me to find beautiful things to watch. Let me know what your favorite classic shows are.

Have a great Monday!

Loving Textures….

Good Morning,

I am really excited about this weekend. Tomorrow we are headed to the Ayres Tea Room for lunch! I have not been in about 2 years and I really wanted to go last year but Covid happen and that was all she wrote. So I made reservations and we are headed there tomorrow for an early lunch or brunch. Then on Sunday afternoon Lauren and I are headed to the Nutcracker! I hope it is good this year. I believe that the dancers have to wear masks and I really hate that. I want to see everyone’s beautiful face and I want to see those smiles. It has been really hard this year but I am hoping for the best for both events. I will share next week how everything went.

In today’s post, I wanted to share my recent change in home decor interests.

I am starting to fall in love with textures! I don’t know why but every time I see a room that is filled with different textures and colors I just begin to study it. I really don’t like all of the white rooms. That takes no effort to decorate. Not to me anyway. How you layer things and pull colors together says a lot about your imagination.

I love these photos from Stacie Flinner’s blog. She does a great job capturing textures and colors. It inspires me so much!

Isn’t this stunning? I love the reds, greens, corals, and creams. There is so much richness in this photo. Some of the textures even have history and I love that aspect. It’s wonderful to hear of someone’s vintage rug coming from their great grandmother, or a china set belonging to a great, great aunt, or furniture that has been in the family for years. I adore heirlooms and history.

I am really loving how designers are now incorporating textures and fabrics in their designs. I adore the Brocade pump from Tory Burch and the Mademoiselle pump from Sarah Flint. I love how sophisticated and premier they look. The fabric gives them such character.

I hope this post inspires you today. Let me know in the comments section below if you are an “all-white room” person or a “texture person”. I think for the most part we all love a little color in our lives. Have a great weekend!

The Chinoiserie Scarf

Good Morning Everyone!

Yesterday was a wonderful day in the office. I treated the staff that I supervise to a small Christmas luncheon! I made reservations at Capital Grille in the Conrad Hotel and it was amazing! The food was exceptional. I ordered the roasted chicken breast with mushrooms and parmesan risotto. It was so delicious. I am still thinking about the risotto!

Last week one of my glamour wishlist items arrived. A few weeks ago I shared my glamour wishlist and this item was on it. I saw this chinoiserie scarf and had to order it only it was sold out!

I tagged the company in one of my posts in my stories on Instagram and they reached out to me and told me that they had a limited stock and that I could order one! I shrieked and ordered one right away! Once it arrived I could not get over the customized packaging. It came beautifully wrapped in this blue paper.

It had my name on it! Now, how wonderful is that?

Once I opened the wrapping I just stared at the scarf. The illustrations and colors were so exquisite. It is made from 100% Italian silk from Lake Como (a dream destination for me), and is a timeless design. The illustration was inspired by the Renaissance and did you look at the tag? It’s thick and is tied to the most beautiful blue velvet ribbon.

I ADORE this scarf! I have tied it to my bag and have been carrying it all week. It’s stunning as a bag scarf! I think luxury and beauty should be everywhere. Put it anywhere you can. Life is so short and many of us have learned this past two years. Enjoy your beautiful things and use them! Have a great Wednesday!

My Current Glamour Wishlist…

Oh goodness, Thanksgiving is next week! I hope you all are prepared for cooking or maybe you are one of the lucky ones that does not have to do a thing! If so lucky you!  I on the other hand will be preparing Thanksgiving dinner for my family. I believe it will just be me, my husband, and the kids this year. For Christmas Eve we usually have guests but we will see how things go. I do plan on using my china that I purchased from FBMP. I did not decorate with a lot of reds this year and honestly, I am loving the change.

Today I wanted to share some items that I have saved to my phone. I want to purchase all of these things but most of them are too expensive so I am hoping that maybe I could get a few as gifts. So we will see.

I think I have already shared this book but I am a huge fan of Estee Lauder. She created a beautiful company and I admired that greatly. I have purchased most of Aerin’s books and love them. I have gone back to them repeatedly to get inspiration for my home. I hope to get this new book sometime next year.

Tory Burch.com

So I have been swooning over these Tory Burch heels for the last 2 weeks! I REALLY WANT THESE! Oh my goodness, the fabric and pattern are sensational! The brocade fabric is so rich. I actually went to the Tory Burch store a few weekends ago to smell her new candles. I wish I would have known about these. I would have tried them on.

Lillou.com

I literally spotted this gorgeous silk chinoiserie scarf on Instagram. I think Jenny from Tallwood Country House had it on her account and I just had to find out about it. Once I went to the site it felt as though I had traveled to another land. The website is constructed together so beautifully! It is exactly what I love. The homes, the flowers, clothes, it is an exquisite website if you are a grandmilliennial at heart. And the scarf… oh be still my heart. When I tagged them in my story a few days ago they reached out and told me that they had a limited supply and I was able to order one! I can’t wait to see it and will share it once it arrives.

Amazon.com

The next item is this extremely chic pair of heels from Amazon! That’s right Amazon. I found these while looking for glitter heels and thought wow! These are under $40 and come in several other colors. I will definitely be ordering these soon!

ChicasaMother (LTK app)

And last but not least is this very tasteful leopard print area rug. I saw this on Emily from Chic as a Mother’s Instagram account. The other bonus part is that it is from Amazon! As soon as I saw this rug I saw it in my office. I will be ordering this soon as well.

I hope you all enjoyed my current glamour wishlist. I always hope to mix the expensive with the affordable. Having both in life is necessary and can be if done right very beautiful. Enjoy your weekend!
