The Overflow of Decor

I know that most of us love home decor. I know I do! I started my home decor shopping when I was in college. I went to a two-year community college here in my city and worked a full-time job. I was a legal assistant and had gotten hired on my 20th birthday! I will never forget it. Best gift ever because I knew at that moment that I could get my own place!!!

So over the years I have accumulated many decor items and have kept some of them. Once we got our first home I started buying organizing tubs to keep everything in. And now the collection just keeps growing….

Some of my curtains. I purchased these over 10 years ago.
More linens
I have chair covers, table linens, tassels, pillow cases and the list just goes on and on.
Pictures….

This I found recently. It is a Giorgio Armani velvet hat box that I paid only $10 for!
Wonderful!

Beautiful blue and white vase that I took to my office
And these lovely pink blush pillows.

I also have lamps and vintage rugs in my decor closet. It is hard to keep organized but I enjoy it. I love home decor and will continue to collect. I have been know to give away some of my items in my decor closet. I just believe that your home should be beautiful. Whatever that beauty is to you. Enjoy your home and collect!!!!

A Fancy Horse Barn

I love home tours just as much as the next but I have never seen a horse barn this fancy. My goodness….

This barn belongs with a home on 40-acre property and was white and green aluminum. The property was purchased by a former professional baseball player and his wife. I am glad that the gave the designer Annie Brahler-Smith free reign because it turned out great!

Suzanne Kasler House Tour

I love Atlanta designer Suzanne Kasler’s work but when I read her book and found out that she is an Indianapolis native that made me love her all the more. Here is a beautiful home that she decorated in my new love blue and white. I hope you enjoy looking at these photos just as much as I did….

This is a fetching runner in the entry’s staircase. Suzanne said that it was “fresh, fun and dramatic”. I couldn’t agree more.

Love the blue and white and the vintage tree lamps.

The lattice backed chairs are from her chair line. The curtains are Brunschwig & Fils satin with Houles trim. Just dreamy….

Now, this room stopped me in my tracks. I love the slipcovers for the chairs at the island. They are Nancy Corzine linen with cording and buttons in a Ralph Lauren linen.

I adore the armchairs in the Elizabeth Benefield linen. Just stunning….

Now this took some courage. But the color looks great. It called “shrinking violet” by PPG Porter Paints.

The linens are so elegant. They are also from Nancy Corzine.

The wallpaper. Ahh, tres chic! It is called Boussac’s tarantelle wallpaper.

A nook in the master bathroom becomes a practical space for a custom vanity.
There’s that gorgeous wallpaper again!

Blue and White Around My Home

I have talked about blue and white so much on the blog. It is becoming my favorite thing. I need to slow down on buying it because honestly I do have enough but the more I resist the more I find pieces so the battle continues.

I wanted to do a quick update on my collection so far. I have purchased a lot more this year and just wanted to share what I have found so far.

We will start with this piece. I purchased this earlier this year from the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. It is so neat to say, “Yes, I got this piece from the Library of Congress. I bought two and sent the other to my lovely friend Mrs. Shery. She is my inspiration to this blue and white collection.
This next piece is from the Homegoods store here in my city. I purchased two of these but different patterns. The other is at work. The piece under the table I found at Ross for $8!

These pieces were found this year too. It’s wonderful when you have friends and family finding blue and white for you. These were found by my cousin’s girlfriend Sarah at a flea market.

More in my cabinet. The big one was found at Von Maur last year and the smaller was found at a T.J. Maxx in New Jersey in 2014.

This was found in South Carolina this year.
Ralph Lauren

Lenox Collection

Homegoods
Flea markets all around the city
Blue and white lamps, the best flea market find ever!

And my last two greatest purchases so far. The one on the table is from Bath and Body Works (shocking, I know) and the bigger one is from Homegoods. I only paid $60 for it! Such a steal!
I hope to find some blue and white garden stools in the near future. All I want is 2. So as the warm season ends I am hopeful that next summer will bring about more possibilities for me finding them as the blue and white trend is picking up.
Thanks for reading!!!

Paint Colors for the Bedroom

We built our home in 2013 so it has been 4 years and we still have not painted our master bedroom nor the bathroom. We have been going back and forth about colors but I am hopeful that this year will be the year.

I am torn between 2 colors, gray and lilac. We also need to paint our daughter’s bedroom and she has chosen light blue. Until she saw my selection of lilac….. great…..

This inspiration…

Love this…

Now here is our bedroom. Our bed is a cream color wing back bed. I think it up against the lilac will be perfect.

Love all the inspiration that Pinterest provides. I am just so excited that my husband will let me have lilac in our room. I am looking forward to it.

Now on this chart, I am leaning toward “radiant lilac”. These are Sherwin Williams paints and my husband loves their products.

My daughter has been wanting her room painted “light blue” until she saw my lilac paint color choices. I told her that she can paint her room the same color and she has refused. So the deal is if we go with a different color then she will go with the radiant lilac. Problem solved…..

Here were her paint color choices…

She likes the top color “lobelia” and here are other examples….

I love this “silken blue” but she hates it! It’s okay. I am hoping that we will finally have color on the walls and that the last 3 rooms in the house will finally be finished. I also have to pick out a “stain” color for our fence. Looking forward to that too!

A House Tour in Georgetown

When we were walking through the neighborhoods in D.C. (see here if you missed it) and as I was looking at all of the homes I was dreaming about what they look like on the inside. Well, House Beautiful has given me a chance to take a peek inside a historic row-house in Georgetown.
