Elegant Clothes and Feminine Accessories

The Beautiful Style of Jessica Fletcher

Good Morning Everyone,

I had a pretty good weekend. I watched a new action film called Infinite with Mark Wahlberg and it was not bad. We went and had dinner at Chic fil A on Friday and someone dumped a cup of ice in the parking lot near our car and I slipped and fell on it! I just laughed when I hit the ground. My purse somehow shifted behind me and I landed on it! It was perfect! I could not have planned it better myself. Once I recovered my family and I just laughed all the way home. I told Lauren, “well I guess I was due”. I had not slipped and fallen on ice in about 3 years. I was due”.

I am planning my year. I’ve got to get doctor’s appointments scheduled and I am trying to meet with a dietitian this year! That is one of my goals for 2022. I am also gearing up for my first tax year for A Home for Elegance. I can’t believe it! I am going to be a nervous wreck until this is done. Goodness…

I am also teleworking today, yay! I have not teleworked in months and I am so happy to be able to do this today. I know the rest of the week will be busy but I am going to enjoy this today. Alright now on to today’s post.

Have any of you ever watched Murder She Wrote? I started watching it a few years ago. It was on one of those nights that I could not sleep and needed something good to watch. One thing I noticed was her clothes. Did any of you ever pay attention to the outfits she wore during those episodes?  Here are a few to jog your memory…

She looks sensational right? I wish celebrities and T.V. stars still dressed this way but unfortunately being nude has become more popular.

I have to say I am a big fan of how she wears her scarves. I mean how chic is that? I read online that in a 1992 interview a costume designer by the name of Eilish Zebrasky was “careful” to fit Angela Lansbury in fashions that reflective her age. I would have to say that she did a wonderful job!

I spy a blue and white lamp…

I will surely be taking some tips from her fashion. In most of these photos, I would say that you can still wear these outfits today. I also love the mysteries. Murder She Wrote is just a classic television series that I am so glad to be able to still watch. It could be that I am getting older but I crave more shows like this. I always pray that the Lord can help me to find beautiful things to watch. Let me know what your favorite classic shows are.

Have a great Monday!

Loving Textures….

Good Morning,

I am really excited about this weekend. Tomorrow we are headed to the Ayres Tea Room for lunch! I have not been in about 2 years and I really wanted to go last year but Covid happen and that was all she wrote. So I made reservations and we are headed there tomorrow for an early lunch or brunch. Then on Sunday afternoon Lauren and I are headed to the Nutcracker! I hope it is good this year. I believe that the dancers have to wear masks and I really hate that. I want to see everyone’s beautiful face and I want to see those smiles. It has been really hard this year but I am hoping for the best for both events. I will share next week how everything went.

In today’s post, I wanted to share my recent change in home decor interests.

I am starting to fall in love with textures! I don’t know why but every time I see a room that is filled with different textures and colors I just begin to study it. I really don’t like all of the white rooms. That takes no effort to decorate. Not to me anyway. How you layer things and pull colors together says a lot about your imagination.

I love these photos from Stacie Flinner’s blog. She does a great job capturing textures and colors. It inspires me so much!

Isn’t this stunning? I love the reds, greens, corals, and creams. There is so much richness in this photo. Some of the textures even have history and I love that aspect. It’s wonderful to hear of someone’s vintage rug coming from their great grandmother, or a china set belonging to a great, great aunt, or furniture that has been in the family for years. I adore heirlooms and history.

I am really loving how designers are now incorporating textures and fabrics in their designs. I adore the Brocade pump from Tory Burch and the Mademoiselle pump from Sarah Flint. I love how sophisticated and premier they look. The fabric gives them such character.

I hope this post inspires you today. Let me know in the comments section below if you are an “all-white room” person or a “texture person”. I think for the most part we all love a little color in our lives. Have a great weekend!

The Chinoiserie Scarf

Good Morning Everyone!

Yesterday was a wonderful day in the office. I treated the staff that I supervise to a small Christmas luncheon! I made reservations at Capital Grille in the Conrad Hotel and it was amazing! The food was exceptional. I ordered the roasted chicken breast with mushrooms and parmesan risotto. It was so delicious. I am still thinking about the risotto!

Last week one of my glamour wishlist items arrived. A few weeks ago I shared my glamour wishlist and this item was on it. I saw this chinoiserie scarf and had to order it only it was sold out!

I tagged the company in one of my posts in my stories on Instagram and they reached out to me and told me that they had a limited stock and that I could order one! I shrieked and ordered one right away! Once it arrived I could not get over the customized packaging. It came beautifully wrapped in this blue paper.

It had my name on it! Now, how wonderful is that?

Once I opened the wrapping I just stared at the scarf. The illustrations and colors were so exquisite. It is made from 100% Italian silk from Lake Como (a dream destination for me), and is a timeless design. The illustration was inspired by the Renaissance and did you look at the tag? It’s thick and is tied to the most beautiful blue velvet ribbon.

I ADORE this scarf! I have tied it to my bag and have been carrying it all week. It’s stunning as a bag scarf! I think luxury and beauty should be everywhere. Put it anywhere you can. Life is so short and many of us have learned this past two years. Enjoy your beautiful things and use them! Have a great Wednesday!

My Current Glamour Wishlist…

Oh goodness, Thanksgiving is next week! I hope you all are prepared for cooking or maybe you are one of the lucky ones that does not have to do a thing! If so lucky you!  I on the other hand will be preparing Thanksgiving dinner for my family. I believe it will just be me, my husband, and the kids this year. For Christmas Eve we usually have guests but we will see how things go. I do plan on using my china that I purchased from FBMP. I did not decorate with a lot of reds this year and honestly, I am loving the change.

Today I wanted to share some items that I have saved to my phone. I want to purchase all of these things but most of them are too expensive so I am hoping that maybe I could get a few as gifts. So we will see.

I think I have already shared this book but I am a huge fan of Estee Lauder. She created a beautiful company and I admired that greatly. I have purchased most of Aerin’s books and love them. I have gone back to them repeatedly to get inspiration for my home. I hope to get this new book sometime next year.

Tory Burch.com

So I have been swooning over these Tory Burch heels for the last 2 weeks! I REALLY WANT THESE! Oh my goodness, the fabric and pattern are sensational! The brocade fabric is so rich. I actually went to the Tory Burch store a few weekends ago to smell her new candles. I wish I would have known about these. I would have tried them on.

Lillou.com

I literally spotted this gorgeous silk chinoiserie scarf on Instagram. I think Jenny from Tallwood Country House had it on her account and I just had to find out about it. Once I went to the site it felt as though I had traveled to another land. The website is constructed together so beautifully! It is exactly what I love. The homes, the flowers, clothes, it is an exquisite website if you are a grandmilliennial at heart. And the scarf… oh be still my heart. When I tagged them in my story a few days ago they reached out and told me that they had a limited supply and I was able to order one! I can’t wait to see it and will share it once it arrives.

Amazon.com

The next item is this extremely chic pair of heels from Amazon! That’s right Amazon. I found these while looking for glitter heels and thought wow! These are under $40 and come in several other colors. I will definitely be ordering these soon!

ChicasaMother (LTK app)

And last but not least is this very tasteful leopard print area rug. I saw this on Emily from Chic as a Mother’s Instagram account. The other bonus part is that it is from Amazon! As soon as I saw this rug I saw it in my office. I will be ordering this soon as well.

I hope you all enjoyed my current glamour wishlist. I always hope to mix the expensive with the affordable. Having both in life is necessary and can be if done right very beautiful. Enjoy your weekend!

Holiday Shoes ~ 2021

Good Morning Everyone,

I decided to take a short break from the blog. I wanted to finish decorating my home for Christmas. All three of my Christmas trees are up and I am very pleased with how I decorated this year. I did not want to overdo it. I tried to keep it as simple as possible. I will share some photos later. I have also been working harder on my intermittent fasting routine. I started it last year in August and I lost about 15 lbs. but I have not lost anymore. I need to lose another 14 lbs. honestly so I have been working harder on keeping my time better. On the weekends I can actually fast for 16 hours or more but during the weekdays it is much harder because I don’t get home until 6 and my fast needs to start at 7! So I have been trying to start my fast right after dinner at 7:30 then I can’t eat again until about 11:30 and that has been really hard for me.

I downloaded a new app to my phone to help me keep track of things and I love it so far! It is free and keeps track of my water intake as well.

Now on to some beautiful fancy shoes for the holidays!

I have been so excited about the new tartan options this year. I purchased three pairs of holiday shoes this year. The first pair from the left is from Talbots and they are sold out already! The black polka-dot pair is mesh and is from JCrew Factory. They are on sale for $89 and are so comfy! The last pair of tartan heels are from JCrew as well and are selling out quickly.

I have gotten tons and I mean tons of compliments on all of these shoes!

And Christmas would not be Christmas without a pair of glitter shoes!  If you have been following the blog for a while then you know that I love my glitter shoes! Now, none of these are available unfortunately but I did find a few pairs on Amazon. They are here, here, here, and here. I think I may have to order the last pair. I love those!

Let me know in the comments section below if you have a favorite pair of heels that you only wear around the holidays. Have a great Wednesday everyone!

My Sarah Flint Purchases

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you all had a great Halloween if you celebrate it. We just passed out candy at home and put Deacon by the front door so he could watch. He has been trying to move lately. He is still not eating as much so we are just taking it day by day.

Lauren did not dress up this year. She just wanted to walk around with her friends and pass out candy. Above all, it was a very quiet Halloween.

Now on to some super elegant finds. I did want to share my recent purchases from Sarah Flint

This was my first purchase. I have been wearing these for the past two weeks and could not love them more.

It was such a treat opening the box to this. Inside the box is a letter letting you know which person personally put your shoes together. The person who worked on my shoes was a woman named Sabrina. She signed her name on the card. All of Sarah’s shoes are made in Italy.  I also could not stop staring at the vintage cloth blue and white shoe case.

After opening the cloth shoe case I noticed that each shoe was enclosed in its own shoe bag! How grand is that?

I simply adore these! When I saw them on Instagram I just fell in love. The pattern and fabric are enduring. It will last forever and I will be able to wear this shoe for decades to come (well I hope). I love how thick the heel is. I love a shoe that has a solid heel. The shoe has wonderful arch support. I have a high arch and love the support that this shoe provides.

The second purchase was this gorgeous blue and white scarf. Remember I saw this on Pinterest a few months ago. I can’t believe that I found it!

This is called the Hidden Garden scarf and it is splendid!

This is a beautiful pattern. I believe that this pattern was inspired by Sarah’s grandmother’s scarf collection.

The pattern contains whimsical florals, butterflies, and three hidden bunnies.

This scarf looks gorgeous on a brown or tan bag. I think the blue, white, and brown are exquisite together. It really is a stunning scarf. It was also made in Italy and is 100% silk. There are lots of ways to wear this scarf but I think that the neck and purse are the best.

Let me know in the comments section below if you have an item from Sarah Flint. I know when you look at the prices they are a bit steep but I am a firm believer in using the Affirm option. I use this option all the time. The interest is less and you pay off your items at your pace. I would consider it if there is something that you want. I hope you all have a great Monday!

Fav Vintage Antique Instagram Accounts

Oh boy, it has been a very sad week for us. Our younger boxer, Deacon, began having issues last week. He panted for days, and would not sleep. Then on Monday morning he simply could not move. My husband took him to the vet and they ran all of the necessary tests and found nothing. But then a second vet said that it could be a neurological issue and if it is then this is not good. For the past several days we have had to move him from room to room, help him try to potty, feed him and the whole thing has been really awful. We do not want to lose our doggie. We love him very much and hope that we can find some options soon.

In today’s post, I did want to share something fun. I follow a few online vintage sellers and wanted to share them with you all.

photo via: Instagram

I follow quite a few and most of them share a similar style of home decor items. I believe that they are all “grandmilliennial” lovers and have great taste. The first is By George Vintage, then there is The Depository, Raspberry and Royal, Vintage Home 17, House of York, Pender & Peony, and Splendid in the South.

I hope you all enjoy going through their Instagram feeds this weekend. They all sell wonderful home decor items. Some of them host auction nights. You have to be quick on those nights because a lot of the items vanish quickly!

Happy Vintage Item Hunting!

Also, have you started your Christmas shopping? Looking for a gift for a tween? My Stella Bow Satchel in pink is on sale for $17! It could be used as a crossbody as well. It is the cutest little mini bag. I only have 2 left!
