Reminding Myself of Elegance

Good Morning Everyone,

We have finished the first week of December. I have a lot on my to-do list this weekend. I have finally finished Christmas shopping and have to get ready to wrap presents and prepare my Christmas Eve dinner list. With that being said I wanted to talk about keeping a great attitude during the holidays.

I think we are all on the same page about this year. It has been a really rough year for EVERYONE and now we are going into the holidays and some of us may have to deal with family, friends, or co-workers who are not exactly our cup of tea.

I have been going through my blog and cleaning it up. I am hoping to have this finished before the end of the month. Most of you know that the blog will be moving to my new website here soon and I am so excited! But as I was “cleaning it up” I was reading some of my past posts and finding great information and reminders in them.

In 2018 I wrote a blog post called Radiate Calm that reminded me of why I pursue elegance. Those four ways that Lea and Jeremy provided renewed a little more drive in me today. I totally forgot to stay compose, avoid drama, find common ground, and maintain perspective.

And most importantly “rise calmly above”. This year has made it so hard to keep those four qualities. I will be honest I have had moments of “rudeness”. Just this week I wanted to yell at the customer service representative at Ann Taylor about my order.

I wanted to scream at the car next to me for not letting me over. I wanted to give that classless co-worker (yes she’s still around) her hateful resume verbally to remind her of ALL of the horrible things that she has said about people.

But then I read this post and it reminded me to calmly rise above it. So I want to remind you all of this as well. You will have moments when you want to join in on the drama but if we wish to remain beautiful then calmly rise above it. There will be times that you do have to address people. I just pray that the Lord will guide us as to when. Have a great weekend!!!

    Hi Mrs. Shockley,

This post is right on time for me too. I've had to catch myself a few times. For me it was at Sam's Club. Someone hacked into my account and I called customer service and they told me Fraud Prevention will take care of it, don't worry. And they wouldn't put me on with Fraud Prevention. I wanted to scream! But, I maintained my composure and remembered to be my true self- someone with elegance.

For holiday dinner lists, do you prepare the same dinner items each Christmas,or do you change it up? Is it the same as Thanksgiving? I'm always curious about what others make for the holidays. My husband and I make Prime rib roast, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I will also be preparing a cherry cheese cake and a peppermint cheese cake.

I just love the holiday season and look forward to all the joy it brings.

    Have a wonderful weekend,

    Mya

      Hi Mya,
Oh I am so sorry to hear about your account. Being violated like that always makes you feel helpless. You work hard for your money and to have someone take it is awful. Most companies don't care and don't do anything about it. It's horrible. Hopefully they will get it straighten out for you.
It's funny that you ask me about my holiday meal plan. I was just thinking about it. I usually make the same thing for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. I sometimes change up the desserts. I think next year I will try to some new side dishes. It's really hard because my husband doesn't eat anything. So I am so limited. But next year I wanted to try greens, mac and cheese and maybe a green bean casserole. So we will see.
      Talk with you soon!
